ApplicationsThese devices are used in many industrial applications requiring rapid measurement and inspection. Car manufacturers use them to inspect the gap between the door and the chassis. They scan buildings or complex piping systems on construction sites. Before going into mass production, parts are inspected by a 3D scanner to verify their dimensional tolerances.
TechnologiesThe 3D scanners presented on DirectIndustry are all of the non-contact type. They emit a light source which is reflected off the target object and then detected by the scanner. The most common types employ time-of-flight or laser triangulation measurement principles.
How to chooseChoice will depend on type of workpiece or environment being measured. Manufacturers specify scanner sample rate in order to define measurement time and resolution.
