Your suggestions for improvement:
An audio codec is an integrated circuit or a device capable of compressing and decompressing an audio signal. It applies algorithms corresponding to the data encryption standard.
ApplicationsAudio codecs are used in multimedia applications or as vocoders for vocal communication, e.g., in phone applications and in video-conferencing.
TechnologiesAudio codecs usually feature USB or I2C series communication ports and a bus access. They include a digital signal processor (DSP) to rapidly execute compression and decompression algorithms, and feature CNA and CAN converters, as well as microphone and loudspeaker analog interfaces. Class D amplification by pulse-width modulation is widespread.
Audio MPEG is a lossy compression format. For telephones, higher losses than for hi-fi are acceptable, so long as the conversations remain comfortably understandable. Vocal communication applications usually offer full duplex mode.
Circuit type will depend on the application (Hi-Fi or phoning). The codec's available algorithms and the peripheral amplification and data exchange functions are essential elements to consider.
