Rigid couplings | Choosing the Right Mechanical Coupling
Mechanical couplings can be divided into four main categories: Flexible couplings Torsionally-rigid flexible couplings Rigid couplings Hydrodynamic couplings There is a wide variety of couplings available on the market. Sometimes, it's easy to know which one to choose. For example, if there is no significant misalignment, a rigid coupling will be the cheapest and most reliable solution. If torsional damping is the main concern, then a jaw...

How to choose this product
rigid-coupling

A coupling is a power (torque and speed) transmission mechanism between two shafts, the drive and the driven shaft. Since a rigid coupling cannot compensate for alignment discrepancies, it is used only where alignment is perfect and remains so during operation.

Applications

Rigid couplings are used in virtually all industrial settings.

Technologies

The most common types of rigid coupling are flange, thrust collar, sleeve and hub.

How to choose

Choice will depend on the speed and torque of the rotation to be transmitted, as well as the relative position of the shafts, since perfect alignment is necessary when using a rigid coupling.
