Shear beam load cells are specially designed for weighing applications.
ApplicationsShear beam load cells are used in all types of medium- to high-capacity weighing applications. They are particularly suitable for containers, silos, overhead rail conveyors and platform scales. They are known to provide reliable weight measurement for applications subject to side loads and with varying load positions.
TechnologiesShear beam load cells measure shear forces through specially placed strain gauges. The strain gauges are arranged at 45° to the longitudinal axis along the side of the load cell's body and are therefore subject to shear forces.
Shear beam load cells are available in aluminum or stainless steel.
When selecting a shear beam load cell be sure to determine the approximate weight requirements of your application. Manufacturers will specify protection ratings for wash-down, hazardous environments, et al.
