Your suggestions for improvement:
A Shore hardness tester measures the depth of an indentation made in a test piece. This test was invented by American industrialist, Albert Shore. It is particularly suited for elastomers, but also may be used on metals.
ApplicationsShore tests make use of two different scales, A and D. The former covers measurements of soft rubber and similar elastomers, while the latter is for hard plastic materials.
TechnologiesThese devices measure the depth of an indentation made by an indenter foot or needle. Different indenters are used with different test materials. The harder the test piece, the more pointed the indenter.
The Shore scleroscope is another type of test instrument. Here, a metal body or diamond-tipped hammer is dropped down a glass tube onto the sample surface. The amount of rebound indicates the Shore hardness value.
Choice will depend on the hardness of the material to be tested and the size of the test piece.
