PCTFE is a fluoropolymer recommended for applications in contact with cryogenic fluids, as it keeps strong mechanical properties even at -255°C, lower than the boiling point of liquid hydrogen, and up to +150°C.
Compared with other plastics, this high performance polymer also offers the best performances in gas barrier properties, especially for low permeation capability to moisture and steam atmosphere.
As a fluoropoymer, PCTFE also offers very high chemical inertness towards all inorganic chemicals and towards most organic chemical, excellent resistance to ultra-violet and X-ray radiation good resistance to ionizing radiation and excellent electrical-insulating properties.
XYTREX® 850 and 860, also knonw as X850 and X860, are made of virgin PCTFE.
As PCTFE material is very sensitive to shear stress, its processing technique has a great influence on its homogeneity and residual stresses.
3P has developed a long experience with this material and uses a process leading to products containing minimal residual stresses and with excellent dimensional stability.
Both XYTREX® 850 and 860 reveals a higher homogeneity than extruded PCTFE.
XYTREX® 860 offers enhanced stability and resistance to stress cracking thanks to a post-treatment applied on our basic shapes.
X850 and X860 can be supplies as basic shapes, rods, tubes or sheets, or as machined parts: ball bearings, valve seats
