WISE sensor measure the Liquid Water Content of snow (LWC) over a perfectly controled snow sample volume Based on capacitance technology and a concentric electrode design, WISe offers reliable LWC measurements over a perfectly controled snow sample volume. LWC range: 0-20 vol. % Uncertainty: 1 vol. % Sampling volume: 325 cm3 The WISe technology, developed in collaboration with Météo-France, relies on the relation between the liquid water content, the density and the permittivity of snow in the MHz range. The technique was validated against the well-established calorimetry method. Application cases: - Snowmelt onset detection - Snow avalanche forecasting - Snow making quality assessment - Radiative transfer calculations - Remote sensing validation
