In the mechanical pre-cleaning stage (ballast trap and screen), coarse soiling is first removed. To protect the plant, mineral impurities (sand, gravel, glass splinters) are removed from the wastewater in the subsequent sand and grease trap and oils and fats are separated. For work safety reasons, screen houses are more and more often equipped with exhaust air purification systems to eliminate odours. In ABIONIK biofilters pollutants and odorous substances are decomposed to non-toxic, odorless and largely low-molecular substances. They can be combined with ABIONIK activated carbon filters.
