In these years has been a growing interest in hybrid and electric cars.
ACM Engineering, in collaboration with manufacturers electronic power devices and companies specialized in automotive, design and produce synchronous electrical machines adapting their product to the electrical and mechanical customer’s requests.
During the last years we completed several projects that can be classified under two different engineering approaches: application of a synchronous permanent magnet motor with differential gear and direct drive application on wheel’s axis.
Application with differential gear:
In this application we use synchronous permanent magnet motors with high nominal speed function of differential gear’s ratio.
ACM Engineering produced a motor with 60 Nm at 6500 rpm for a van transporting waste in city’s center.
Motor was coupled with a 1-11 ratio differential gear. Bidirectional electronic device allows regenerative braking, during deceleration the vehicle’s kinetic energy is converted into electricity to recharge batteries.
Direct drive applications:
In this application electric motors are directly coupled in wheel’s axis, the differential function is entrust to electronic device.
ACM Engineering produced two motors 100 Nm nominal torque at 425 rpm directly applied on wheel’s axis for a small electric car.
