The Zahner CIMPS system is a highly-capable photo-electrochemistry workstation incorporating any variety of LED lightsources to run many types of experiments. The Zahner CIMPS has several unique features compared to competing options, notably an active-feedback sensor that measures intensity and adjusts the power applied to the lightsource automatically. The automatic comparison between the set value and sensed intensity eliminates the influence of non-linearity, ageing and temperature drift. Furthermore, it allows the direct calibration of the light source in units of intensity (W/m²). This method guarantees a precise intensity throughout the entire duration of an experiment, and for the entire lifetime of an LED lightsource. Other photo-electrochemistry workstations solely rely on the initial factory calibration of their lightsource and assumes that it doesn’t change over time. This can be a problematic assumption because the heat generated by the lightsource (especially at higher intensities) will oftentimes affect the LED’s intensity calibration curve. Also, as the lightsource ages, similar deviations from the factory calibration can set in as well. Zahner’s unique lightsource “control” feature is what the “C” in CIMPS stands for since users are actively and automatically “Controlling” intensity meaning that there is no concern about whether or not the lightsource is providing an accurate intensity – no matter how hot or aged the lightsource becomes over time. The CIMPS package consists of several components working together in a plug & play application, including software and an overall calibration prior to shipment.
