Description

AGY produces a number of E-Glass fiber products. E glass fibers are fibers with high stability and durability and are, with the exception of sizing ingredients, inorganic, incombustible and will neither expand nor contract with moisture changes. The glass composition used in AGY formulations meets the certification for E glass as defined by ASTM’s D578-00 Standard Specification for Glass Fiber Strands. Yarns Yarns are defined as a continuous strand of filaments coated with an engineered chemical coating or size (or sizing system), twisted together and used in weaving, knitting, braiding, plying and many other forms of fabric. AGY produces a full spectrum of E glass yarns with diameters from 4 to 9 microns, designed to meet your most demanding performance, processing and cost requirements by varying any one or all of the following fundamental components of the yarn: glass chemistry coating or sizing chemistry diameter and number of the individual filaments in the bundle level and direction of the twist Rovings AGY does produce a small quantity of E glass assembled rovings for specialty products and processes. Contact us for more details regarding these products. AGY does not produce any single ended E glass rovings. Chopped Fibers AGY’s E glass chopped fiber products are available for a number of customer processes and end uses with chop lengths of ¼”(6mm), ½”(12mm) or 2”(50mm). The fibers are primarily available with starch oil sizing which allows good dispersion in the customer processing step.
