Description

PBS Cubes for High Energy applications are designed to separate high power laser beam polarizations into S and P components. Choose or request material, size, spectral values and other parameters. How High Energy PBS Cubes are made? First of all, right-angle prisms are polished. Then, entrance and exit surfaces are coated with multilayer dielectric anti-reflective (AR) thin film coating and specially designed polarizing coating on hypotenuse of one of the prisms. After that, cubes are optically contacted (bonded) without any cement (no epoxy glue!). After manufacturing cubes are tested and stocked or shipped to Alien Photonics customers. How High energy PBS cubes work? PBS cubes for High Energy applications are designed to separate high power laser beam polarizations into S and P components. The p-polarized light is transmitted along the same direction as incoming unpolarized beam and s-polarization is reflected perpendicular to incoming beam. This separation is done by polarizing coating which is applied on hypotenuse on one of the prisms. Alternative components for High Energy PBS cubes Probably closest interchangeable component is thin film plate polarizer at 45 deg. However, with some additional adjustments high contrast Brewster’s type TFP polarizer can be used as well. If laser power is low or medium, and pulses are low energy, Alien Photonics Standard PBS Cubes can be used. If broad wavelength range is needed we recommend Broad band PBS Cubes. Custom High Energy PBS cubes Alien Photonics offers wide range of wavelengths, sizes and other characteristics. High energy dual-band, tri-band cubes are available upon request.
