Municipal and industrial wastewater facilities are continuously monitoring water quality upstream for incoming wastewater, on-site at the treatment facility, and downstream to verify effluent treatment is effective. Regulatory requirements dictate many measurements to be taken and reported on a continuous basis. Multiparameter sensors and sondes are a convenient way to monitor multiple water quality parameters simultaneously. They streamline data collection for maintenance and simplify sensor deployment.
Common parameters combined into a sonde for both municipal and industrial wastewater quality include pH, ORP, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, temperature and various ion-selective electrodes. Other parameters, such as nitrate and ammonium, can be added based on the known or anticipated influences to the source water.
