Laser processing is a technology that produces faster, cleaner, more accurate and more effective removal of a variety of coatings on round and cylindrical components, including hypo tubes and guide wires. MIYACHI EAPRO's Automatic Hypo tube coating removal system is designed for the bulk processing of medical parts that typically have the form of round wires, tubes and rods. Diameters range of 50 microns to 2 mm and typical lengths range from 420 mm up to 3000 mm.
The system may also be used for advanced surface treatments, including discolouration, foaming and darkening or annealing. Selecting the correct laser source and part feeder enables most plastic and metal parts fed as a bundle or on a reel to be processed by laser.
The laser process creates a cleaner cut with smoother edges when compared to more traditional methods such as grinding. It eliminates burrs and nicks and does not lead to the surface of the metal beneath the coating becoming rougher, if this is required. In addition, this process leaves a much cleaner surface after processing. The result is a cleaner, smoother, safer and more precise ablation window. This system will improve production processes, enable higher throughput levels and accommodate a wider range of materials.
