Polarization Rotators are used because then there is no need to adjust the optic. The rotators offer two kinds of rotation, 45deg and 90deg rotation at different laser wavelengths. A noted feature of the rotator is that its optical axis is perpendicular to the polished face of the optic. This gives the impression that orientation of linearly polarized light is rotated as it propagates through the device. The rotator offers better temperature bandwidth and wide wavelength bandwidth at λ/2 @ 532 nm. The acceptance angle is high. The rotator has a single plate. The typical length of the rotator is 3.33 (90 deg. @ 532 nm). The damage threshold is 1 GW/cm². The rotator is AR coated. Standard wavelengths are 532 nm, 632.8 nm and 1064 nm.
