Breathable air defines air quality that is as close as possible to outdoor air, and corresponds to standard EN 12021. Its main parameters are described by the following values:
Oxygen content: 21% (+/-1%)
CO2 content < 500 ppm
CO content < 5 ppm
Oil vapour content < 0.5 ppm
The air inhaled must be odourless and tasteless.
The breathing air system must not contain any liquid water. In fact, the dew point must be low enough to avoid any condensation or icing, i.e. -5°C in relation to the lowest temperature. If the lowest temperature is not known, the dew point must remain below -11°C.
