Pin-Rack Screens (PRS) are screening equipment specially designed for installation for medium sized water and wastewater treatment plants. Suitable for both coarse and fine screening, as either a front or back raked screen, the Pin-Rack Screen ensures an efficient and reliable cleaning of the bar screen. The maintenance-free pin rack drive guarantees absolute synchronism and quiet running of the rake. The advantages of the Pin-Rack Screen are robustness and its easy maintenance due to the lack of ropes or chains for driving the rake. No moving parts are submerged in the wastewater. The steady sense of rotation of the drive motor protects the driving parts. The raking trolley can be stopped in any position thus allowing maintenance work on the operation floor without the need for a maintenance platform.
Operation Principle:
The raking trolley is driven by a pair of cog-wheels which engage in pin racks. The rake is controlled by rollers running in a guiding and a follower track. The raking trolley climbs up and down with the rake achieving a loop shaped working cycle. When the new cycle begins, the raking trolley descends from its parking position with the rake arm opened. As the cog-wheels reach the bottom pin of the rack, the rake reaches the channel bottom. The cogwheels then rotate around the pin and the rake teeth enter into the bar screen. While the raking trolley climbs up, the rake collects the screenings, transporting them to the discharge position where they are removed from the rake by means of a hinged wiper.
