HELIOS - Solar Energy Sludge Drier for efficient drying and mass reduction of sewage sludge by water evaporation with minimum energy use Helios Sludge Drying System is a reliable and efficient sludge drying system using Solar Energy source. The sludge is transformed into a granular bio-solid which is easy to handle and which can be stored in containers or bags. The principle of the Helios Drying System is drying sewage sludge by using the solar radiation. As the solar radiation warms the surface of the sludge, the water content at the surface is evaporated. The moist air is evacuated while dry air is sucked from outside of the greenhouse. The dry air is blown over the sludge drying bed by the ventilators. Heart of the Helios Sludge Drying System is Helios Reverser-Conveyer. Distribution, transport through the drying bed, performing turning and aeration of the sludge and collection to discharge end is achieved by Helios Reverser-Conveyer entirely automatically. The operation starts as sludge is fed from one end and spreads the sludge homogenously to entire area of the drying bed. It also mixes and turns the sludge to aerate and ensure effective drying.
