A spring grinding machine is designed to grind springs into a flat and parallel shape. This specialized machine is often used in the production of compression springs. It consists of three key components: a grinding wheel, a regulating wheel, and a support mechanism for the spring. The grinding wheel spins rapidly and is utilized to eliminate surface flaws and create a smooth, parallel surface on the spring. The regulating wheel positioned parallel to the grinding wheel, exerts pressure on the spring and controls the grinding speed. The spring is held at both ends and fed between the grinding wheel and the regulating wheel where the grinding takes place.
Once the grinding process is finished, the spring is removed and the machine is ready for the next spring. The grinding process can be accomplished using either a high-speed abrasive wheel or a low-speed super abrasive wheel, depending on the material of the spring and the desired surface finish.
