At the SPS exhibition in Nuremberg, the drive and automation manufacturer Baumüller will be presenting its new DSC2 motor series. The DSC servo motors are the next generation for applications requiring high torque density. The low weight and minimum dimensions characterize this series. Among other things, the overall length was reduced, making the DSC2 even more compact yet with the same power.
Servo motor DSC2
The new DSC2 servo motor is compact and powerful. The customary numerous options are available to machine manufacturers
“Our development achieved an outstanding combination of overall length and flexibility with maximum torque density at the same time. The efficiency of the motor increased to around 94 percent””, reported Markus Keila, Senior Product Manager for Motors at Baumüller.
Like the familiar DSC1 product family, the DSC2 motors are scalable and adaptable to customers’ requirements. They cover a speed range from 1,000 to 5,000 rpm. The numerous encoder and cooling options, optional break, various compatible gear variants and many additional options ensure that the DSC2, as well, can be matched perfectly with its individual area of application. The motor also has a small CO2 footprint. This is due to the reduced use of material resulting from the very compact structure.
One variant of the DSC2 motor is particularly good for applications with low speeds and simultaneously high torque requirement. Compared to other servo motors on the market, the DSC2 motor is up to 15 percent more compact.
