The Semiconductor Strain Gauges is manufactured by BCM Sensor Technologies. The gauge length is different among different series. Gauges with shorter length are suitable for bonding to a smaller surface. As long as the strain in question is distributed in a bigger area, it is better to use SN-5 series to pick up as much as possible the strain of interest. The SN series has no backing, so its creep effect can be ignored, while SB series has backing resulting in creep effect in load cell application. As long as the gauge does not break, it can be used to bond to a curved surface. As the gauge length of the SB-2 (SN-2) series is the shortest (2.6 mm) among all BCM ScSG devices.
