The Eliasson cloud ceilometer CBME80B is a compact and lightweight standalone instrument. It is used for measuring cloud base height and vertical visibility. The cloud ceilometer design is based on the LIDAR principle. The light emitting component is a low power diode laser with the output power limited to an eye-safe level. Real time digitising technique is employed in signal detection. It boasts a powerful microprocessor in combination with a FPGA is used in signal processing. It is designed for both fixed and mobile installations and detects up to three cloud layers simultaneously. Features include: Reliable operation Easy installation and maintenance Very long laser life (10 years) 7600 m / 25000 feet measuring range Low weight and low power consumption The CBME80B ceilometer is ideal for use in aviation and meteorological applications. It is suitable for installations on land, ships and for offshore use. The cloud ceilometer has outputs for different types of display and recording units. An RS-232 and RS-485 interface supports local control, test and data acquisition. There is a built-in FSK modem for remote control and data acquisition.
