Ultracharge Battery Chargers
Ultracharge is an optimised, universal battery charger designed and manufactured by Boardman Transformers.
Ultracharge uses a 20MHz microprocessor and a state of the art switching power supply to ensure standby batteries are always in a state of good charge.
The charger runs from a universal supply (100 to 265VAC) and will optimally recharge lead acid (SLA), Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) and Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries. A fast charge of up to 5A is initially used to charge the battery for a fixed time or until certain voltage or temperature criteria are reached. When the battery is fully charged the charger uses a float or trickle charge to ensure full capacity is maintained.
After a power failure the charger switches to a boost charge to restore the batteries in the minimum time. The mains voltage, the charger state, the charge voltage, the charge current, the battery terminal voltage and the battery temperature are constantly monitored to determine the optimal operating conditions.
A manual override is provided so that a boost charge can be applied and a thermal trip can be used for additional protection if required.
