Excellent resistance to mechanical stress and chemical agents.
The active BOSO III (BOden SOnde) has been developed to be installed in the pavement. It measures the road surface temperature by means of a PT100 sensor, as well as the thickness and electrical properties of the aqueous solution covering the pavement. These three parameters allow for the calculation of the salt concentration, and hence the freezing point temperature of the aqueous solution.
Besides, the BOSO III sensor is equipped with an active element allowing to cool down a part of the sensor’s surface by 2°C below the current pavement temperature.
The creation of ice on this cooled area allows to detect an icing danger with great accuracy, independently from the type of thawing agent used, and moreover before it happens on the pavement.
This sensor can be used jointly with the ARCTIS type pavement sensor (which effectively measures the freezing point temperature), thus allowing to accurately determine the remaining quantity of salt on the pavement.
