Our Model 2503 Series 2507 screw machine. Also known as an extractor, pulper, finisher, separator, de-waterer, classifier, scalper, presser and refiner. How it works: Chopped product or pulpy juice is collected and held above a screen. The screw finisher squeezes the product until it liquefies. The liquid drops down and into the screen, allowing a juice of low solids puree to get through. The leftover material that doesn’t make it through the screen such as seeds, defects, and “hard material” is pushed to the edge of the screen as low moisture waste, or “pomace.”
