We need a proper earth grounding to benefit our daily activities and facilities. It helps us not to hurt due to faulty equipment or home appliance installation. Damage from lightning strikes and induced voltages also hazarded to us. Over time, ground systems can degrade or become ineffective. The risks from ground system deterioration include potentially deadly electrical shock situations, equipment damage and heat build-up on a single piece of electrical equipment that is dangerous to our community.
All British Standard Tester ER models (ER-80A / 80M / 81 / 82M / 83A) can perform Earth resistance tests (using the 2, 3 & 4 terminals rod method) to determine the connection from equipment to the grounding system for safety assurance.
ER-82M and ER-83A are compact design 4-terminal earth resistance testing instruments to provide flexibility for manual (ER-82M) and automatic (ER-83A) operation testing. Both models employ measuring functions for ART (Attached Rod Technique) testing capabilities. The ER-82M / ER-83A can measure earth resistance from 0.030 Ω to 20 kΩ and are also capable of soil resistivity testing (ρ). Both are powered by six LR6 / R6 AA 1.5V Alkaline Battery, which are widely available. The testers are rated IP54 for outdoor use with a safety design to CAT IV 100 V. The basic kit includes the test leads, connectors/adapters, earth rods and a rugged carry pouch – everything you need to start testing in one package.
