When Mattison Machine Works went out of business C & B Machinery took advantage to utilize the talented employees that were suddenly available and started a new division specializing in the remanufacturing of Mattison grinders. The core design of a Mattison vertical grinder is second to none for heavy stock removal, high production volumes, and high precision when grinding the faces on a dedicated product.
C & B Machinery has re-engineered the Mattison feed systems to incorporate the latest technologies such as a servo-driven ball screw feed system. This also eliminated a majority of the complex mechanical moving components which results in much less maintenance-related downtime.
C & B remanufactured this machine to grind very large, non-coplanar connecting rods. This machine was designed for hand or robot load. The challenge was high stock removal along with tight tolerance while controlling the step relationships. The tooling was designed to allow for a quick part changeover.
