The GL ... F5 – D2 (D3) Series features fits between the GL freewheel, the F5 fixing flange and the D2 or D3 cover flange. Normally the flanged freewheel is fitted by the customer in the required direction of rotation by using the paper gaskets and screws supplied (without the gaskets, the freewheel can be seriously damaged). Shaft tolerances must be either h6 or j6. The rotation of the outer race is stopped by flange F5 that includes a stop pin and therefore requires a suitable hole to be drilled in the frame to support the pin; otherwise a strut or tie rod must be fitted. In order to avoid damage to the freewheel and the bearings, both the free axial and radial movement of the pin inside the seating must be checked (clearance: 1% of pin diameter). Either grease or oil lubrication must be applied to the freewheels before operation, following instructions given on page 12.
