The PC2 EX series plugs are locked in the socket with a 1/4 turn bayonet ring. The bayonet ring is secured by a set screw. When they are not mated both sockets and plugs are protected with covers locked with a retention wire. They provide IP 66 level of protection when capped or mated. The housings are made of aluminum (marine grade) Al-Si 7MgFe, ASTM 356.0, ISO 3522. The hardware is stainless steel. The sufficient EX rating is achieved through using both socket and plug of the EX connector assembly. The connectors must be chosen carefully in accordance with the cable that is to be used (cable screen, cable diameter, cable type and similar). The pins are very innovative and they feature Cavotec's MWT technology which allows very small pins to take high currents with very low voltage drops.
