wave6 is a standalone frequency domain simulation software package for modeling the transmission of noise and vibration through complex systems across a broad frequency range.
It was developed in conjunction with wave six and combines CD-adapco’s expertise in flow simulation with wave six’s knowledge of noise and vibration simulation. By using STAR-CCM+ and wave6 you can assess the noise and vibration performance of your product at the design stage and help ensure noise and vibration targets are met along with your existing thermal and flow targets.
Noise and vibration performance is becoming increasingly important in the design of many products. Example applications include the noise generated by rotating machines (such as fans, propellers, turbochargers and electric motors), the interior noise generated by exterior flows (over automobiles, aircraft and launch vehicles) and the transmission of flow-induced noise and vibration through ducts (refrigerant lines, mufflers, pipelines, ECS and HVAC systems). In each of these applications, it is no longer sufficient to design a product that meets flow and thermal targets without also considering the impact on noise and vibration performance.
