The ROBA®-alphastop® is an electromagnetic safety brake actuated by quiescent current.
The ROBA®-alphastop® is installed in an existing design between the server motor and the bell housing simply and without modification.
When de-energised, coil springs press against the armature disk. The rotor is held between armature disk and flange plate. The shaft is braked via the toothed hub.
When the current is switched on, a magnetic field is built up. The armature disk is pulled against the spring force to the coil carrier. The brake is released and the shaft can run through.
