spiralwound gaskets
They are composed of a shaped strip, which give them elasticity; the coiled, metal strip, under a constant and graduated tension, has got an
insulating material nterposed.
The “superflex” obtain very good sealing results, due to their components:
- the sealing edges multiplied from the spiralization of the steel strip
- the insulating material, which do not permit the fluid flowing. (Graphite, ceramic-fibers and PTFE are used as filler.)
Thanks to their elasticity the “superflex” gaskets could be used, with low load of clamping, to compensate the irregular surfaces of the flanges.
In order to obtain very good results, the compression must be effectued with a prefixed pressure.
metalplastic gaskets
The metalplastic gaskets are composed of an insert in asbestos-free joint, carton board, PTFE or other material, with a metal strip covering (total or
partial) called Metal Jacketed.
They are easily compressible, with a right selection of the materials, the metalplastic gaskets could withstand to high temperatures and pressures,
they could support compression from 20% and 30% on the original thickness. The sealing is made through the compression of the central part of the
gasket due to the clamping of it between the flanges.
The corrugated gaskets are used , in order to improve the sealing, because they create a labyrint seal. The gaskets are supplied in every shapes (circular, oval and rectangular) and they can be built with no size limitation.
