The test covers the determination of the consolidated drained shear strength of a soil material in direct shear. Direct Residual Shear Machine is motorized and floor mounted. Supplied with carriage assembly load hanger and integral 10:1 lever loading device as standard. The machine accepts the following sizes of shearbox: 60mm square. It has microprocessor controlled digital stepper motor drive system with keyboard entry incorporated in the electronic control/display unit supplied with the machine. The control firmware incorporates a return datum facility enabling the shearbox assembly to return to the exact start position for residual shear testing. Speed range is fully variable over the range 0.00001 to 9.99999mm/min with fast forward/reverse speed of 10mm/min speed settings can be selected in either s.i. or imperial units. The display keyboard enclosure will incorporate a RS 232 port for connection to p.c. as standard. Safety forward/reverse travel limit switches monitored through the electronic control system is included as standard. The machine accepts either mechanical or electronic measuring heads.
