It serves to separate and wash sand present in water. Water enters in the decantation hopper, where solids, after separation, decant on the bottom. A screw, with a very slow rotation speed, collects all the solids from the bottom and take it out. In this way it is possible to aid the sedimentation and to allow the discharge of material without liquid. The clarified water flows out from the top side of the decantation hopper.
