Monocrystal Silicon ( Si ) in the 1.2-7um band has good transmation, and it in the Far Infrared band 30-300 micron also has good transmation too, which is not the characteristics of other infrared materials. It is usually used as the substrate of 3-5um medium infrared optical windows. Monocrystalline silicon optical windows can be used in adjacent fields such as gas detection and infrared sensors.
