Optical wedge prisms have similar function with optical windows. They all can be used as isolating components. Wedge prisms are used as beamsteering in optical systems, playing a role in optics analogous to that of the wobble plate in mechanics. Wedge prisms are available in alternative materials, such as synthetic fused silica, and in different shapes and sizes, or with various antireflection coatings.
