Optical windows are used to isolate different physical environments while allowing light to pass relatively unimpeded. Generally, it's have round windows, square windows, and cuboid three type shapes. However, during most especial applications, special shape is preferred such as "T-STEP" Windows, etc. When selecting windows you should consider not only windows shapes but also materials, transmission, scattering, wavefront distortion, parallelism and resistance to certain evironment.
