The small Production freeze dryer with a useful surface of 1.8 m² can handle small lots. It was designed to reduce costs and footprint while offering the reliability needed for intensive regular use. It can be used for production lots of about 40 kilos. Standard equipment includes 6 shelves with temperature regulation from -60 to +60°C via heat exchange fluid. Each shelf has an area of 0.31 m². Three sensors monitor the cycle. The transparent door of the front sublimation chamber enables operators to monitor the load. The -85°C trap can handle 40 kg of ice. (A larger trap can be fitted for greater shelf surface.) It is aligned with the shelves, reducing overall size while offering a large trap 800 mm across, the same size as the lyophilization chamber. There is no reduction in diameter between the chamber and the trap. This arrangement also eliminates the isolation valve, reducing cost. It can be equipped with a hydraulic vacuum or inert gas plugging system to provide sufficient power. The Pilot freeze dryer also exists in a clean room version. In this case, it is equipped with a panel recessed into the clean room wall. This panel surrounds the transparent door of the sublimation chamber. In this configuration, the trap is accessible from the rear.
