Ensuring optimised transport and rotation of the engine Located in the centre of the factory building, transfer cranes transport engines between workstations and from the production area to the test bed entry lane. Mechanical interlocks and articulated track ends facilitate the safe and smooth transfer of the twin hoist carriers from the tracks to the bridge and vice-versa. Meanwhile, slewing cranes – which are mounted on the central transfer bridge crane – allow an engine or engine component to be rotated to ensure that it is always correctly orientated when it reaches its designated destination.
