Automatic door - advice, installation & maintenance
The automatic door is an automated door with swing or sliding door drive. Automatic doors open and close automatically due to a motion detector or switches. They are often used in entrance areas of office buildings, shopping centres, hospitals, or disabled accesses as well as in stairwells or garage crossings. Automatic doors react to approaching persons, have sufficient closing force and reliably secure escape and rescue routes in the event of fire.
Automatic doors are available in fire resistance class T30 (fire retardant) and offer smoke protection and thermal insulation with double glazing. In the variant with a swing door operator, there is a choice between a single or double leaf door. For the sliding door drive variant, an automatic sliding door with single or double-leaf elements or a telescopic sliding door is available.
The drive technology of the doors consists of radar detectors, manual switches, light curtains, or sensor strips.
Maintenance of automatic doors: Maintenance of doors is essential. Automatic door systems are subject to an annual inspection requirement. Sliding door systems in the escape route area are even subject to a six-monthly maintenance obligation.
