The Cygnus W1 Work Class ROV probe handler was designed to complement the Cygnus ROV Mountable thickness gauges, providing them with engineered probe-handling solution, fully compatible with Work Class ROVs as it can be mounted on the manipulator arm via T bar or Fish Tail handles. This robust unit features a full 316 stainless steel construction, and features a double jointed coupling with 15° movement in two planes (guided by 4 pins), designed to handle ultrasonic probe alignment, while a shock absorbing spring provides impact protection. This design enables simple and easy positioning of the ultrasonic probes to the surface for measuring purposes, while the coupling automatically measures any misalignment, restricting the movement of the manipulator arm position.
