Cygnus S1 Probe Handler is specially developed to handle medium size ROV ship hull inspection. The device is designed with Cygnus range of ROV mountable thickness gauges. The probe handler is capable to perform UT thickness surveys on ships’ hulls using an observation or Light work class ROV. The device in contact with hull plate, grips the steel using two magnet sets and the ROV pushes forward to tilt the UT probe and align it to the hull surface thus placing the UT probe in optimal position to measure ROV pilot . A gentle forward thrustis maintained during the measurement. The S1 probe holder is composed of acetyl with stainless steel fixings ensuring a significant reduction in its overall weight.
