The Z32 numerical control can exchange information to and from the machine via I/O peripherals which can be mounted directly on the Master Link (MLK-FZ), or on a PE3-ILK expansion node. The expansion nodes are connected to the Master Link via the Z-Link fiber optic communication bus.
PE3-ILK Z-LINK EXPANSION BOARD
The PE3-ILK board is used when it is necessary to add an expansion node on the Z-Link communication bus which is used to route information to and from the Z32 CNC through the Master Link board.
The cases in which this can occur are:
To distribute PE3 I/O modules in large machines
The Master Link board is used by the expansion board for Z-Star2 channels which are used to connect D.Electron digital drives to the Z32
The number of PE3 modules to be installed is greater than 8
You are using a MLKSD2 Master Link board of the Slim system and you also want to use PE3 modules
The PE3-ILK expansion board is:
Connected to the Z-Link bus via optical fiber
Enclosed in a plastic container
DIN - EN 50022 rail mounting (Omega Rail)
Can be installed up to a maximum distance of 30 m from a Master Link board, or from another Z-Link node
MAIN TYPES OF PE3 MODULES:
The PE3 peripherals consist of several freely configurable modules to be mounted side by side, up to a maximum of 8, directly on the MLK-FZ Master Link when it does not mount Z-Star2 channel expansions or on a PE3-ILK module; in this case, the first module is always the ILK module, which provides the fiber optic interface with the Z-Link. The PE3 modules are configured via software and do not require any type of hardware intervention by the installer.
