The optical fiber FIELDBUS starts from the Master-Link, passes through all the drives and ends on the Master-Link forming a ring connection called Z-Star2 channel. Each Z-Star2 channel can contain up to a maximum of 8 drives. The first Z-Star2 channel is available directly on the Master-Link, three other channels are available through the EXP-FZ1 and EXP-FZ3 expansions, allowing a maximum of 32 digital drives for a single Z32 CNC.
Main features of the Z-Star2 digital drive system:
Perfectly integrated into the Z32 FlorenZ system
Auto-tuning software available
Z-Star2 modules are fully configured via software, with no hardware settings needed
Each Z-Star2 module can be configured via software to drive any supported motor (brushless, linear, torque, spindle...)
The Master Link (MLK) directly manages up to 8 digital drives on a single Z-Star2 channel
Through the EXP-FZ1 and EXP-FZ3 expansions, other 3 Z-Star2 channels are available, up to a maximum of 32 digital drives controlled by a single Z32 CNC
The connection between the Master-Link and the Z-Star2 digital drives is obtained with a fiber optic connection: totally immune to disturbances
Optical fiber maximum length for a single connection: 30 m
Effective 400Vac from 5A to 200A power module currents (continuous duty S1)
Regenerative power supply available
Dual standard encoder input on each drive: one for the motor transducer, one for an optional position transducer
Supported encoders: SinCos, TTL, EnDat, Biss, Resolver, Hiperface. The choice of the encoder type is done via software, it can be modified at any time without the need for hardware configurations
