Description

At Dawson Shanahan we specialise in copper machining and cold forming of high quality customer designed copper components, from a single prototype to hundreds of thousands of parts. Our engineers work with copper alloys of all types on a daily basis. We understand how to manufacture parts that meet the demanding needs of customers with applications as varied as electric vehicles and power distribution, laser cutting and aerospace. With both CNC machining and cold forming operations in house, we’re able to provide a full value engineering service, from part design and optimisation for manufacture, through to material selection, production and finishing; we can also offer assembly, packing and lineside or JIT delivery options worldwide. Our cold forming capability is ideal for the manufacture of high volume parts, as it dramatically reduces the copper used, while producing parts at high speed with exceptional interior finishes, complex internal geometries and high mechanical strength. We regularly cold form and machines parts from a full range of copper alloys. These include Zirconium Copper (CuZr), Tellurium Copper (CuTe) and Copper Chromium Zirconium (CuCrZr). Additionally, we have considerable experience working with pure copper, especially Oxygen Free High Conductivity Copper (OFHC). Although this is one of the most difficult materials to engineer, we have over 30 years of experience of copper machining and have developed unique and innovative techniques to ensure the highest quality OFHC parts at the lowest cost.
