Description

Plano-convex axicons are composed of a plano and a conical surface. They are made of optically transparent materials with polished opposite sides, ground edges and chamfers. Conical surface is defined by base angle which can be anywhere from 0.1 to 45 degree. Different coatings can be applied on the polished sides of axicons. The convex conical surface can be used as a mirror axicon. Applications : An axicon made up of conical and flat surface produces a line image along the axis from a point light source. Axicons are used to transform laser beams into infinite focus beams or to focus collimated beam into a ring. The latter can be used for laser material processing.
