The Broaching machine, also called pusher, allows the realisation of high precision U or V-shaped notches with depths of 2, 3 or 5 mm on 55 x 10 x 10 mm samples.
Based on the requirements and the applicable standards, at the end of the cycle the processed samples will have KV, KU or KCU notches, to ensure correct breaking as contemplated by the Charpy Resilience Test reference standards.
Construction features
The machine must be equipped with a broach (or plug), fitted with side cutting templates to remove the material (swarf) from the sample.
A hydraulic unit above the crossbar pushes the broach vertically from the top, while the sample is kept in position by a vice at the base of the equipment and carved.
Depending on the type of broach used, it will be possible to obtain U or V-shaped notches of different depths (2 to 5 mm), as required by the reference standards.
