The Germanium Plano-Convex Lenses manufactured from a rough but durable material are specifically designed for applications in the fields of Defence,Security and Thermal Imaging.A variety of infrared applications can also be served owing to the precision diamond turned surfaces,that are a unique feature of these Plano-Convex Lenses.These infrared applications include thermal imaging, infrared spectroscopy and remote sensing. The germanium lenses introduced by the TECHSPEC® with the wide wavelength Range of 2-16?m are available in 25mm and 50mm diameters with an option of being uncoated or with multiple broadband coating choices which can also be custom infrared coated. In addition to the above features,Infrared Lenses in Popular Substrates are also available.These Germanium infrared lenses with their transmission range of 2-16 ?m and an opacity in the visible portion of the spectrum, are of great use in infrared laser applications. The features that keep Germanium in high demands include its high index of refraction,broad transmission range and rugged mechanical properties.However these are equipped with a demerit of being subject to thermal runaway Germanium nearly opaque at 100°C and completely non-transmissive at 200°C.
