Perhaps you are looking to aerobically treat the digestate produced in your digestion plant to obtain a marketable compost end product? Or it could be that your current digestate is too clumped and the water content is too high?
Or basically, you just need a technique that loosens up the feed material while mixing it with structural material? The BACKHUS LTC Mix, Digestate Mixing Unit, will allow you to create a biodegradable substrate suitable for further treatment or fine processing.
The BACKHUS LTC Mix can be used for application within closed systems and integrated into any new system with a rotting tunnel. The Digestate Mixing Unit consists of a mobile unit, which moves back and forth on a suspended roof above the composting tunnel by means of a chain drive. The rotor of the unit protrudes through a narrow opening into the lower region of the tunnel and turns over the material in this area as it moves along.
Rotor and input material
The rotor has a diameter of 1.4 metres with an overall size of 4 metres and is suitable for mixing material up to 1.8 metres in depth. The maximum clearance from the floor is just 50 mm.
The starting stock consists of one part of digestate and one part of structural material (green waste). Using the BACKHUS LTC Mix, Digestate Mixing Unit, a homogeneous material is produced, with a corresponding air pore volume suitable for aeration, i.e. a biodegradable substrate.
Using the unit loosens the material without compaction. To produce an ideal result from mixing, the material is turned with two successive passes. The first pass pre-mixes the material and breaks up any potential clumps.
