Separately Driven Fan Separately driven fan is used particularly in applications where the motor is driven by variable speed drives to keep the air flow at a constant level. Separately Driven Fan With Encoder In applications where synchronous operation is desired, encoder application is used. The motor fan cannot be used since the encoder is mounted on the non drive end cover. For this reason, the motor is cooled by a separately driven fan. Separately driven fan with brake and encoder In applications where both brake and synchronous operation are desired, brake, encoder and separately driven fan options are all mounted to the non drive side of the motor.
